We've talked about how God detest and despises dishonesty. Lets shift gears and look at the steps towards an honest life:
A. Evaluate your habits of truthfulness. Honest people work on being right. "Fools don't care if they sin, but honest people work at being right (Prov. 14:9)."
Ask yourselves three questions:
1. WHERE are you being dishonest? - marriage, friends, lifestyle, work..etc.
2. HOW are you being dishonest? - exaggeration, slander, deceit, cheating, compromising..etc.
3. WHY are you being dishonest? - fear, personal gain, pride, selfishness, jealousy, insecurity..etc.
Peter lied because of fear, Cain lied because of pride, Abraham lied because he was insecure, Ananias and Sapphira lied because of greed, Joseph's brothers lied because of jealousy. Dishonesty is nauseating to God. Honesty builds character. Character is what we pass on. Honesty develops spiritual maturity.
