Sometimes your attitude veers off a little bit. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)." God is saying, I want to give you hope and a future. The Bible uses the word hope as a declaration of confidence. The Biblical definition of the word hope is, God being in control.
What does hope give to the believer?
A. The ability to get started. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31)." "We had great burdens there that were beyond our own strength. We even gave up hope of living. But this happened so we would not trust in ourselves but in God (2 Cor. 1:8-9)." Paul was hopeless, but when he gave up, he went to God. Hope gives you the attitude that says, I'm not going to quit.
