In Matthew 14: 22-33 it talks about walking on water. This miracle occurs just after the feeding of the 5000. Miracles are a supernatural working of God into the natural working of man. Lets observe the storm on the water. "...But the boat was already a considerable distance from the land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it (Math.14:24)." This is an unexpected storm, no advisory, and before they knew it, it was out of control. Why does He sometimes allow us to go through a storm? Because we learn some lessons in the storms of life that we would never learn in any other way. When you follow Jesus everyday will not always be sunny. The Lord did not send you into the storm to take you under, but to take you over.
